This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are living in a technology driven world! Today's employers expect employees to be able to use computers with familiarity and ease. Unfortunately, many of my students do not have access to computers frequently enough to increase their basic knowledge of computer functions and software programs.
Most of the students in my classroom come from low income/high poverty homes.
My students rely on me to provide them with a rich curriculum that exposes them to a variety of learning techniques. They are curious by nature and love to explore. This is especially evident when they use computers. Majority of my students do not own a computer at home so their only computer time is in school. Because their knowledge of computers is limited, my students often have a difficult time understanding basic computer functions and using software programs when trying to complete assignments.
My Project
Having netbooks in our own classroom will give my students the opportunity to use a computer at their leisure as well as for projects, research, and writing assignments. Using the netbooks frequently will help increase their computer skills, a valuable asset in their future years! The netbooks will also be utilized across the curriculum, which means that my students can use this technology in all subject areas as needed.
You can really make a difference in the lives of my students by providing them with access to the technology they so love and deserve!
I hope together we can give them the right tools to help them succeed in the future!
