My students need a Mimio Teach Interactive Whiteboard and a Hitachi CPX8 light bulb for our projector to update functioning technology in the classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a special education program that provides a safe and therapeutic environment for students diagnosed with emotional disturbances among other eligibilities such as autism, dyslexia, and specific learning disabilities. It is small learning community in which we provide instruction in Core Curriculum classes in Math, science, ELA, and Social Studies in addition to elective courses.
Our students are part of a predominantly Latino/Hispanic student population (93%) at a Title I school.
With limited resources and experiences, technology is a necessary tool to virtually travel outside of the classroom, research topics, provide real world applications, as well as differentiated instruction.
My Project
Students with learning disabilities require scaffolding and visual supports to build through concrete, representational, and abstract understanding of mathematical concepts. Students are better supported using virtual manipulatives and gaining real-world application practice that can be accessed through the world-wide web. Students work in groups as well as independently as I customize learning experiences to their needs. This is much more easily accomplished using functioning and updated technology.
My students need a Mimio Teach Interactive Whiteboard and a Hitachi CPX8 light bulb for our projector to update functioning technology in the classroom, to keep up with technological advancement demands that require students to facilitate multi-faceted learning experiences.
This amazing system will turn our dry erase white board into an interactive touch screen computer. Students will be able to lead presentations, engage in student-centered interactive lessons, and participate in active learning. Additionally, with this tool students can build content knowledge and experiences by interacting with other students or by engaging in scientific reading and activities online.
The use of technology is critical to support all students in the 21st century.
