Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we start the day with a chant: "All set?," Teacher says. Students reply, "You bet!" My students are hard workers and are motivated to reach their goals!

I teach in a primarily immigrant and working class neighborhood in Los Angeles.

My students come from supportive families who are involved and concerned. Some of my students are above grade level, some are on grade level, and some are struggling readers. Even with all this diversity, my second graders have one thing in common: they all love learning!

My Project

Every day In Language Arts during independent time my students get the chance to use the Ticket to Read and the Amplify app to improve their reading fluency and literary skills such as main idea and details and sequencing.

In order to for my students to work independently and quietly while the teacher assistant and I are working with other groups, the independent group needs earbuds with microphones to use with their iPads.

I am also requesting earbud cases to hold each set of earbuds. This is important for each student to be able to be responsible in caring for their supplies.

In addition, I have requested birthday crowns and bracelets so each child can be honored and feel special on their birthday.
