This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love teaching 2nd graders! The majority of my students who live in poverty have not been exposed to broadening experiences such as family vacations, trips to museums, or even eating in restaurants. I spend time adding to their worldly experiences so that they are learning with real-life situations. As an educator I seek ways to integrate different types of learning styles so that all students are engaged during the lessons. Technology is an essential tool which is also used allowing me to mold my students into 21st century learners!

My Project

With the use of the Genius Kit from Osmo students will be allowed to combine interactive technology with the time-proven techniques of child education. We know kids learn by doing, so each game uses physical action. Whether it’s arranging tangrams, zooming number tiles around, or even freehand drawing, Osmo sees and reacts to every real-live move. Students will be allowed to use the Osmo during both Reading and Math stations with partners or independently. Having Osmos in my room will create an engaging atmosphere where kids are excited to explore their math and phonics skills. I will also be allowed to tailor to each child’s needs.
