Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing 1st graders, who are open to learning new things every day. From the time they walk into the classroom to the time they leave they are very eager to learn. However, they are all on different levels, but work so hard to build a strong sense of community. They are willing to help each out each other. We have wonderful parents, however, our school is a 91% free-reduced lunch, and so it is hard to ask parents for donations.

My Project

Technology is critical to our world, with the ability of having tablets in my class, my students would be more capable of accessing online programs during Center Time. Our school requires the online programs Lexia and Mathaletics. These are spiral reading and math programs, which studies have shown to boost abilities by 1/2 - 1 grade levels. Students will also become more interested in doing the assigned online lessons during the Center Times, rather than pencil and paper. With our growing world of Technology, I would like to give my students a better chance of success, and with your help I will be able to do that. Thank you
