Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

One thing that I love about my classroom is its innovative environment. I teach students in the low income area of Michigan and though they may not have a lot at home, I want to always give my students something they can cherish and be proud of. In a previous project, I was blessed with some computer chairs, but I do not have enough for all of my students. My 8th graders really like those chairs and it is my desire for all of my students to have their own. These chairs provide lasting comfort throughout the day for my students, as opposed to the plastic chairs provided by the school. We are also in need of a class set of headphones which will help my students tremendously with their independent online assignments.

My students are so special, because in the mist of their adversity, they still show up with willing hearts to learn.

My goal as a teacher is to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for my students and this project will help me continue to do just that.
