My Students

My students are from Utah where we have the lowest per-pupil spending in the nation. My special education students do hard things every day with limited resources. They face daily personal health concerns, challenges at home, and challenges at school. They learn to communicate through assistive technology, sign language, or peer-to-peer interaction.

My students struggle with sensory and social issues that they are working at overcoming on a daily basis through inclusion and life skill classes.

Special Education gives me the ability to support my students' individual diverse learning needs. The fear for families with high-risk children during the COVID-19 crisis is real. My students work tirelessly to succeed and want to learn! This project supports my students' STEM education by providing individual safe supplies for them to use.

My Project

My school provides Chromebooks to our students. My special education students sometimes struggle with typing. These Amazon fire tablets will allow my students access to online libraries, their digital classrooms, and apps that can help with social stories and communication. The scissors and pens are for use of fine motor development, hands on activities, and some of my students that will only write with pens. The dual monitor stand is a space saver as we have been going digital and a second monitor for me has been a life saver!!!
