Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful group of 5th-grade students who are highly motivated and have a true passion for learning. They are my inspiration as they push me to think outside of the box to develop learning experiences to meet their varying interests and diverse needs. My students represent a very mixed population both culturally and economically, and despite challenges, they always give their own personal best and push to succeed!
I teach at a Title I school where I am lucky enough to get to work with such dedicated and hardworking students.
I also get to partner with a group of supportive parents and equally supportive staff who share the common goal of creating a learning environment where all children will succeed!
My Project
The resources that I am requesting are a HP Laptop, projector, document reader and microphone. I would like to provide my students with technology in order to maximize learning experiences.
Students would use the laptop and microphone for desktop recordings, podcasts, voice searches, speech, vocals (for the budding artists) and Skyping with professionals such as engineers and scientists.
The possibilities are endless and all would contribute to their overall achievement in literacy and oral language development as students are talking, creating, and learning from digital resources! The HP Touchscreen Laptop will also be utilized as a learning center for students to access all throughout the day. This includes accessing our online math programs such as Khan Academy and ALEKS and for research and exploration of core content in reading and writing with the use of our district digital library and online programs such as iCivics and PBS Learning to access History Social-Science and Science content.
The document reader and projector are important components because students will use these materials to present their findings to their peers. The projector is compatible with the laptop and other WiFi devices to allow for casting of information as well!
The educational uses of the materials I am requesting will thoroughly enhance my students learning experiences and keep them up to pace with our technologically driven society.
