This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of children. We have a wide range of abilities in my classroom and access to technology helps me to diversify lessons within the room.

I have a first grade classroom in Mobile, Alabama.

We have 22 students. My students have a wide variety of needs and talents. We have some students who are learning English for the first time as well. When teaching students with such a wide range of needs, it is always helpful to have a variety of teaching tools available.

My Project

I am requesting 2 iPads and 2 cases to give them adequate access to technology. If we are gifted these iPads, they will be for student use. We will use them as center activities, a tool for listening to reading and a tool for taking AR tests when our reading ability increases. There are programs that can benefit each of the students in the class and with two tablets, I can reach at least two additional children each day.

These iPads will give the children a more equitable access to technology.

We currently have the BYOD program, but not all children are able to participate because they do not have their own devices. With two tablets in the classroom, it will be easier to rotate through technology centers among the children.
