My Students

I will be working with some energetic and eager to learn kindergartners in the upcoming school year, 2019-2020. I teach at a Title I school where over 90 percent of the student population receives free or reduced lunch. Most of the students have limited access to technology too. As a teacher, I strive to teach not only the school curriculum but also skills that will help my students succeed in life even if they are young. My classroom is a warm and welcoming environment that encourages students to ask questions and problem solve.

My Project

All students want/deserves the latest, newest, hottest, next best thing that comes out on the market. Especially, when it comes to technology. How about just having access to technology? My classroom is need of technology. My classroom currently has 2 desktops, 1 laptop, and 3 tablets to help fit the need of 20 students. Some people including educators would say that classroom has plenty of technology. Picture this 20 students during a 90 minute literacy segment. Within this segment of time students must complete the following tasks; read to self, work word, listen to reading, work on writing, meet with the teacher and iStation. Did I mention 4 of those tasks will involve some type of technology to help complete the assignment? With the addition of six (6) Amazon Fire Tablets, it will allow for students to comfortably complete assignments during a literacy and math segment that are assigned by me to help encourage independence and improve reading and math skills.
