Help my students receive Amazon Fire Tablets and accessories to help them work independently on achieving their annual IEP goals.
I have the pleasure of working in a self contained 12:1:1 class in a school in Brooklyn, NY.
All of my students have special needs and an Individual Education Program (IEP). In their IEP, they have certain academic goals that they need to achieve within one year to help them master fundamental reading, writing and math skills.
IEP goals range from identifying key details in a text, to using pictures to add and subtract. On top of teaching a curriculum, myself along with my supportive paraprofessionals also help our students achieve their IEP goal within the classroom. With my students and their varying abilities, their materials need to be differentiated to help them achieve their IEP goals.
By having tablets and accessories (headphones and standing case), my students can use websites such as BrainPop, Education. com and other resources to help them learn and assess their skills independently. Also, using the technology can help me collect data top see where students are making progress in IEP goal mastery and where they need teacher intervention to help them achieve their goals.
