Tech to Make an Interactive Classroom

My Students

My students are in a selective enrollment school in an urban area, meaning they applied and were accepted to our school. Despite being a selective enrollment school, we still have a population with over eighty percent low income and minority students.

They like to discover patterns, make connections, help their classmates, and solve problems!

Many of my wonderful students have overcome significant obstacles to get where they are today. My students are inquisitive, easy to work with, passionate, motivated, and like to be challenged.

My Project

When my students return back to the classroom, I want provide students with a multi-sensory learning experience. Help our classroom get a new document camera, speakers, and a large-display digital clock. Having a new high-definition document camera will allow my students to easily share their work with the class. For example, when students work on the daily warm up during the first 5 minutes of class, I can call a volunteer to bring up his/her work to show to the class. By having this tool, it will make it easier for students to learn from each other, demonstrate what they know, and feel ownership of their class. Specifically, it will identify misconceptions or common mistakes made by students and give students a chance to teach each other.

By donating to this project, you will help increase student engagement and ownership of learning chemistry.

My students have expressed interest in science, and I want to fuel that excitement by involving students in the learning and teaching in my classroom. This Elmo document camera will change my students' lives for the better, because it will give the students an opportunity to work on their public speaking skills, communicate what they know, and interact with technology tools. Please help my kids get the materials they need to be successful in chemistry!
