This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth students are amazing students with unlimited potential, but they lack the technology in the classroom to fully explore their ideas. The students come from low income homes where for some the only tech they interact with is at school. Our entire school receives free breakfast, lunch, and dinner due to need. My students have a genuine love for learning. They love to come in early and stay late to help and learn. I want to be able to nurture that love before it is lost.

My Project

There are days and weeks when the laptops are pulled from my room to be used for testing. These Chomebooks will allow them two laptops that they know they can count on to use in class. Plus the ability to access Android apps will will also broaden the education opportunities.

The Chromebooks will open the whole world of the Internet to the students.

We try to get the students to be independent learners, but it is hard to be independent when they don't have the chance to do their own research. This project will allow them to be the best learners they can be. Throughout the year we have large themed units, for example Celebrations Around the World where we pick different cultures to learn about and students have to present a report to the class. These Chromebooks would allow them to do their own research.

Also, every year we do a play for the whole school called Dancing through the Decades. We study each decade from 1910's all the way to the 2010's. Then we put on a play with singing and dancing for the school. The Chromebooks will allow students to study and interact with each decade better then reading packets would. History would literally come alive.
