This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm the librarian of a Title I high school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Our student population consists of tenth, eleventh, and twelfth-grade students. All of our student body receives free lunch. Many are reluctant readers who read more than two levels below grade level. However, despite the obstacles they face, our students are curious and motivated to learn. They just need more tools to encourage them to do so. They are incredibly creative and talented kids who are determined to make their mark in the world.
My Project
My students need a new iPad mini in the library. Students could utilize this new iPad for self checkouts, catalogue searches, data base research and more! Having multiple examples of working technology in the library is a must. The iPad mini is perfectly portable, and would be a great addition to our library.
Although our students are growing up in the digital age, there are still entirely too many without access to devices.
With your support, we can provide more devices for our students. There are so many ways the students can utilize an iPad in the library. We appreciate your consideration, and thank you for considering the needs of our students.
