Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a very vibrant bunch of 1st graders. There is never a dull moment in our classroom. They are more like one big family, than they are classmates. They argue with one another, but they care for and love one another even more. All 18 of them bring so much joy to my life in their own special way and I want nothing more than to provide them with a rich academic learning environment.

My fabulous firsties continue to shine despite some of the struggles that they face both in and out of the classroom.

I work in a Title I school where all of my students receive free or reduced lunch. My students and I are very close, not just because we see each other everyday, but because we have something special in common. We all speak two languages, both Spanish and English. My students were so happy to find out that I shared their home language with them and in return they have felt safe to be open and honest with me about everything. I honestly could not have asked for a better group of fabulous firsties!

My Project

My fabulous firsties are eager learners who love to be hands-on and use technology. We are currently in need of functional and kid friendly technology that my students will be able to use on their own.

This project will give my students access to technology that they may not get anywhere else.

We will use our Fire tablets for research on various topics, including Genius Hour Projects where my students will get to do research on a passion that they have. We will also use them during centers where they will get to play standards based games and complete individualized activities on their academic levels.
