This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade in Cleveland, Ohio is comprised of approximately 40 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free breakfast and lunch.
For my students, the consistency and routines that I provide in my classroom are what they rely on most in their lives.
The learning environment that I hope to create for my students is one that inspires them to succeed and supports them every step of the way. My fourth grade students come to school each day, often times bringing their home lives with them. I spend a great deal of time throughout the year creating a strong sense of classroom community. My students not only rely on me to support them in their learning and serve as a positive role model in their lives, but they have come to rely on one another through the positive relationships they have formed.
My Project
Working in a Title 1 school, all of the resources we are given must be shared within the building. With technology being such an integral part of education today, I hope that through these donations I am able to provide my students with Chromebooks used in a variety of small group settings on a daily basis. In language arts, students have access to an individualized reading program where they are able to listen to books being read to them at their independent reading levels. I look forward to using these Chromebooks for various writing projects as well as for researching social studies topics. Many of my students do not have access to a library outside of the classroom, let alone the use of technology. These donations will improve my classroom by providing my students with a more individualized pathway to learning, one that can be completed at their own pace and throughout each school day. These Chromebooks will allow me to further engage my students in the learning process. My students will practice keyboarding skills as they prepare for state assessments.
