This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I currently educate a group of diverse, energetic, caring, and loving 1st graders. They enjoy reading, math, art, and using technology. They love to help each other.

My students have such creative minds and lots of enthusiasm.

They love to share, chat, and play. Sharing stories about their family and experiences is one of their favorite things to do. In our classroom, we are a family. I am one proud teacher and the year has just started! Best year ever!

My Project

I am fortunate enough to be in a school system that provides one to one technology for all students. My first graders will be assigned an android tablet to use for their educational work. This is great for me because I love utilizing technology.

This group of tech savvy first graders are ready to dive in!

The android tablets can serve so many educational purposes. They can be used for reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. In a class of almost 30 students, this can get noisy. I would like to get a class set of headphones for my students to use to listen to interactive read alouds and to use with programs such as i-Ready reading and math. The program differentiates their instruction and each student needs the opportunity to be successful without distractions.

The headphones will help with their focus and concentration. It will improve their reading skills, including phonics and fluency. This will also help keep them engaged.
