I am a special education teacher in Chicago public schools. My students are in 3rd-5th grades. My students have varying levels of ability and varying disabilities.
My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and kind.
My students come to school eager to learn and try their best with everything they do. My students enjoy exploring different academic topics and making their own connections to the text through stories and pictures. I want to instill a love of learning in my students which is possible when we have the necessary supplies and materials.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting through my project will help my students engage in different educational activities throughout the day. As a special education teacher, it is important for me to provide my students with various ways that they can practice skills and that they can show their knowledge. Using iPads and other forms of technology in the classroom allow my students to do that.
My students love using different types of technology.
With these iPads, my students will be able to complete Google Classroom assignments, create Google documents and share them with myself and other students, listen to books on Raz Kids, and play educational games to deepen their learning.
My students can have a difficult time sharing their thinking or assignments with others. However, my students will be able to create their own original stories using story building apps and share them with their peers as well as create presentations using Google Slides.
