My Students

My students, not unlike so many other students, have had to overcome the struggles presented by COVID-19. What sets these students apart from others is that they are band students. English and Math are always going to be there but what about the music? Live music stopped, shows were canceled, and the halls were silent.

During COVID, the Performing Arts sustained a devastating blow to its livelihood, adversely affecting performers.

They would have to relocate after playing, wear unusual masks for their faces, and mask their instruments. After 18 months, we got back to something that looked like normal but also completely different.

We brought the music back to the classroom and to the field and are relearning what this program was. We are rebuilding it better than it was before.

My Project

As we grow and rebuild this program after being decimated by COVID, we are realizing this technology is necessary to keep up with other bands. It also enhances our sound and provides another artistic avenue for students to make music.

These items will bring our band program to the next level.

Marching Audio Arts is a relatively new field and my band has now entered that arena. We can easily add synthesizers, voiceovers, vocals, and sound effects to our productions. This will enhance our program and help us tell our stories better. Additionally, when numbers are small, I can hook up microphones to bolster our sound.

This technology will help my students keep up with other band programs and stay competitive.
