This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are young children full of wonder and fear of the unknown. Most of them are newly arrived from other countries and have no idea what to expect in their new school.

My students are active, talkative, and need physical activity to release the stored energy and tension after sitting in class for hours.

They tend to come from homes where both parents are working blue collar jobs just to make ends meet. Physical activity is limited out of necessity since parents don't have time to take the children to the park or other outdoor areas.

My students need to have the importance of an active lifestyle modeled and promoted by a trusted educator to help prevent a sedentary lifestyle.

My Project

My students will be using the laptop requested in an area set up for those that need the extra computer time before and after school. Teaching in a low income, Title I school presents many challenges. One of these is that my students don't have access to reliable and consistent us of technology. This year, I'd like to offer as many students as I possibly can the opportunity to have technology at their disposal.

Helping my students have access to technology will allow them to complete homework assignments, required computer programs, and extra online tutorial.

This access will help them be successful in their academics. The new basketballs and nets will be used to help them learn how to work together and think critically in real world situations.
