This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school, and almost seventy percent receive free or reduced price lunch and breakfast. They attend a magnet school which requires most students to maintain a B average throughout the year. The students are part of Pre-Med, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Computer Technology programs.
Our students come from the diverse backgrounds of 30 different countries.
This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.
My Project
My students have come to expect that my math class is always going to be a place of fun and discovery. I do my best to always have videos, apps, and hands-on activities. Unfortunately these things are not always available, and I need to get creative. I want to bring an Echo and Dot into my classroom to do Math Jeopordy games with my kids. We will take math skills I have taught and turn them into a game where they can compete. This way we are reinforcing our math skills while using Alexa to come up with grade-appropriate questions.
