This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Sixth grade is an incredible year in the lives of many students. The physical and emotional growth that my students undergo still amazes me every year. Apart from the physical growth that students demonstrate, the academic growth that they demonstrate is equally impressive. From writing endless tangents, my sixth graders are growing into capable and confident readers and writers. It is a credit to much of the support that has been provided by my teaching team, donors, and parents that are supportive of my efforts.

My Project

My three dinosaur computers are constantly humming. I am always looking for ways to use them to help build my student's abilities as readers. As of late, it is clear that students need support reviewing some of the new literary terms that they have learned this year. I have found two wonderful CD-Roms that will support reviewing important literary language that I have taught students this year. Being able to use both of these programs will supplement instruction and introduce students to terms in new contexts. This will promote retention and encourage deep learning. I am also in need of ink; students use my printer so much to print review materials that are critical for their learning. Finally, I have a group of students that are dying to read Romeo and Juliet. I would like a copy of the film to expose students to a dramatic interpretation of the drama.
