Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our class is full of eager kiddos ready to learn. If you walked into our classroom, you will find students socializing with one another and doing a variety of learning activities. We consider ourselves a family in the classroom and are constantly learning ways to love and support one another.
We are a class of 20 Kindergarten students at a Title 1 school.
Students come from a variety of backgrounds and some have little to no technology exposure at home. The students love the one ipad we have in the classroom and always are eager and excited to get the opportunity to utilize it in small group time. As our world turns to a more technology based society, it is our jobs as educators to prepare students for the real world. Starting the use of technology in the classroom in Kindergarten will allow students to grow into a more developed, well-rounded student.
My Project
The two tablets and their accessories will be used by students during our small group station time. During Reading/Language Arts Stations, students will use the iPads to scan QR codes that will lead them to audio books. Students will be able to listen as the story is read aloud to them as they view the book on the iPad. During math station time, students will use the iPad to exercise their number sense through a variety of teacher selected math apps. With students being able to use the iPad individually, their knowledge and love of learning will grow.
The donations in this project will help my students become 21st Century learners.
It will allow the students to learn with the iPad on an individual basis. The students enjoy time with the tablets and this would allow them to develop a deeper love of reading and learning.
