My students need tablets to use as a reward for hard work, as well as, to reinforce lessons covered during small group lessons.

My Students
My students come from low-income families in Camden, New Jersey. They bring joy to me and our entire school with their smiling faces, big hugs and happy hearts.
The students in my class have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.
Many of them have a diagnosis of downs syndrome or cerebral palsy. They have behavioral, attention and sensory challenges which interfere with their ability to process and retain information in a traditional manner. My students need more alternative and modified educational resources.
My Project
My students struggle with motivation. Due to their various disabilities, my students need to be highly motivated to work. Tablets offer a huge variety of options to reach varying student interests. It is also great because students of all cognitive and physical ability can benefit from tablets.
I plan to use tablet time as a learning center to foster independent work time, cause and effect skills and to increase eye hand coordination in my lower functioning students.
The tablets will also be used to help manage student behaviors. Students who show excellent effort and cooperation will be the first to have access to the tablets.
