Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My two classes of Roses students have so much curiosity about different layers of life and community, even in class. They bring their unique personalities, culture and styles of learning into the bilingual classroom, especially through the music we play in the background. They are learning to value themselves individually, as well as understanding how their education can become the key to better opportunities in their life.
Challenging my Roses to become Oakland's future change-makers, who bridge divides across cultures and communities, is my passion.
Our focus is learning how to respect, love, and protect our community through bilingual education and a growth-mindset. Every day, my Roses practice taking a pause: one moment to stop and breathe to recognize their emotions, remember their purpose, and persevere. I firmly believe they will become the change they want to see in their communities.
My Project
In second grade, we seek the opportunity to access and incorporate technology to facilitate individualized learning. We will utilize technology to provide instruction and assessments in Spanish. These tools will help our diverse learners to have resources to bilingual books and educational Math programs, especially since we do not have a library on campus.
We want to be able to meet our students needs in having choices to motivate them to cultivate their love for Reading and Math through technology.
These computers will be used during centers for independent reading, for completing researching in writing, and for individualized learning in Math. Having access to technology will help build a culture of social responsibility in an age where technology is everywhere.
