Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Special needs students spend a greater percentage of their school day in a self-contained classroom because they function below their grade level peers. They need a large variety of teaching methods with multiple academic supports to make lessons understandable.
Students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and learning delays learn best with stimulating visual input and current technology exposure.
The things they learn at school can be practiced or used at home and growth is more likely to occur. These students are easily engaged in activities such as computer use because they see its relevance around them everywhere.
My Project
Learning in 2018 requires multi-media for even the youngest students, as well as for academically challenged kids.
Our special education program of three classrooms is working with the oldest computers in the school.
Even the IT guys are saying there is nothing they can do to help them. Visual representations are imperative for every learning station, so a color printer would make things much more engaging and inviting. Teachers are great at making their own stuff but we need good tools every day. Headphones can individualize the learning and speakers make it possible for all to share in the presentation.
