My students need a flying drone camera with case and prop guards along with a camera zoom lens. We will make money by providing commercial businesses fly-by video services with it.

My Students

My classroom is impulsively innovative. We know to be successful as entrepreneurs in providing web and video services, we need to either 1) BE FIRST 2) BE BETTER 3) CHEAT. And we will NOT cheat.

They are all rural farm kids, and the ones in my classroom are innovators.

From past years, they know anything goes, nothing is out of the question, and the tech classes are challenging but don't have a final exam. All work is project and problem based. Without it, there is no real-world relevancy or application. Without those, the school maintains it's image of "memorize, test, forget".

My Project

My students will use the quadcopter (and its associated carrying case, propeller guards, and carrying case) to meet goals in 3 academic areas: 1) Physics - Students will explain the physical properties and considerations for flight, as well as theorize how a gimbal successfully maintains a level camera while the quadcopter shifts angles on all axis. 2) AgScience - Through aerial pictures and video of local farmers' land before planting and just before harvest, students develop theories of what soil characteristics and tiling lead to higher corn and soybean yields. Students will predict future yields based on previous studies 3) Video Production/Entrepreneurship- students create promo videos for local businesses as well as real-time aerial data to farmers. For businesses, we will request donations for these services, while providing farmers the data with no charge. The camera lens is a zoom lens to produce a promo video of our quadcopter services to promote in local TV and web sites.

Students experience cutting edge technology in a small school that usually can't afford such things.

Students will be able to experience the joys and fears of what having overhead surveillance can really be like and what that means for larger scale governmental policy decisions about "big brother".
