Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Building a strong community for students in an economically disadvantaged area is one of my main priorities as a teacher this year. The students that I am educating and impacting come from a wide range of backgrounds, facing similar learning gaps, and urging to take on valuable lessons to broaden their knowledge. My students love to lead, motivate, and ask questions to stay actively engaged. Working in a community full of unprivileged students and families only makes me want to bring them as many opportunities as possible.
As a teacher in a Title 1 school, the students of the environment have many different challenges that WE must overcome as a classroom family, in order to motivate and instill determination in their educational growth.
From the students’ daily affirmation of believing in themselves, to my commitment to push them to do their best, I am determined to not allow their lack of resources to hold them back.
My students are strong minded, curious, interested in learning new things, clever, and spontaneous.
My Project
Technology is scarce at my school and many of my students are eager to learn in new ways. Amazon Alexa Fire 7 Tablets will be able to be used during Read Alouds, interventions, and independent writing.
With these Amazon Fire 7 Tablets, I know my students can continue to excel and explore as learners in our community.
Having a class set of Amazon Fire 7 Tablets will be used during whole group and small group instruction. Students will be able to check their work using QR codes and will be able to use them during centers for read to self or to use with Kahoots. When doing novel studies, students are able to have the book in their hands with the click of a button. Furthermore, when asking the students to conduct research for project passed learning, students are able to utilize the Amazon Tablets as a resource. By providing the students with cases, they are child proofed, sound controlled and ready to be implemented in a classroom full of auditory learners.
In order to welcome my students to our small group area, I am asking for four comfortable wobble chairs. I would love for them to come to our designated work space excited, engaged, and ready to dive into learning.
