Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a diverse first grade, integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) class, with a combined mixture of general and special education students at a large, high-needs, Title I school in the north Bronx. Although the majority of students come from low-income homes or from homes with limited parental involvement, they are enthusiastic and truly come to school every day ready to learn. These children see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and strive daily to make me proud.

My 24 first graders are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Not only do several of them struggle with unstable home lives, but many cope with various disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, and speech and language impairments. These kids inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.

My Project

My new first grade learners will need these materials to help them duplicate our classroom environment and to focus on their virtual standards-based lessons while learning at home.

The kid-sized stylus will help students build fine motor skills while they are being asked to work virtually on tablets.

The stylus pens will be a great tool to help kids navigate on their iPads, particularly with clicking small buttons. They will also help students on apps that use handwriting (such as for handwriting practice or for showing their work on a math problem on Nearpod).

The headphones with microphones for younger learners were selected in a variety of colors to help me easily assign students in groups during our virtual learning breakout rooms, enable me to hear their sounds to better assess their phonological production, and help students focus on their lessons at home by blocking out background noise.
