This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Walk into my classroom and you will find a group of upbeat third-graders bustling with enthusiasm. Very little can hold them back on their daily journey and quest for knowledge! My class is comprised of a mixture of special education and general education students who are mostly English language learners. They enjoy working in groups and often find fun in a little academic competition!
Our school is located in East Harlem and most students are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
We are a bilingual and bicultural school and many of our students come from Spanish-speaking countries. For this reason, it is crucial that language skills are reinforced through multiple outlets and access points over the course of the school day.
My Project
I constantly look for ways to enhance my students' classroom experiences throughout the school day! Having access to iPads in our classroom will heighten their excitement for learning and impact language development, as well as enhance reading, writing and math skills! It will build a lifelong bridge of learning through the use of technology and open up a world of information at their fingertips.
Having access to technology within our classroom will be an invaluable asset.
My hope for the coming school year for my third-grade class is to incorporate iPad instruction. I plan to do this not only for fun and engagement but to help my students practice academic skills! I want to continue to foster their love of learning and keep their passion for education rolling!
