Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Incorporating tablets into our students' curriculum will allow them to develop their independence and computer skills. Especially, since most of the students are non-verbal and this gives them a way to express themselves. Currently, in the classroom, we are practicing reading, writing, math skills in both languages. The tablet cameras can be used to photograph lessons being implemented. Implementing tablets will be beneficial towards practicing typing and research skills through online programs and applications. These devices allow for a creative way to learn academic skills in a more accessible and exciting way!

My Project

Our special needs students spend much of their day in school, and their classroom can either help or hinder their learning. We pride ourselves in being an inclusive classroom that accommodates all of its students and their special needs.

The students will use the tablets to enhance the skills they are working on in the classroom.

My students would use Tiggly Math, Tiggly Words and other software on the tablets. Our students are in grades 5-8 and they have varying needs that must be met. Some students are physically challenged and have limited speech. Many of the students are bilingual and Spanish is the dominant language at home. We could download apps for various math and reading practice skills, which would allow us to have activities for all our students.
