My Students

8th grade is the best! My 8th graders come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our school is a Title I school. We're a suburban community that pulls students from a wide range of neighborhoods.

My 8th graders are on the edge between childhood and adulthood; they are so ready to soar.

In middle school, each day brings them closer to discovering who they're going to be. Each day gives them an opportunity to grow into responsible, respectful adults.

My Project

In my classroom, we work collaboratively each day! We currently have really heavy desks - the kind where the chair is attached to the desk. These desks take up a lot of room and are awkwardly heavy to move. When we want to sit in a circle, which happens a lot, we can't just move the chairs into a circle because they're attached to desks, and we can't just move the desks into a circle because they're so large!

My students need tables so that they can collaborate in a variety of settings.

They can work as a team at a table, they could move their chair or stool to another part of the room, they could move the tables to the side of the room so we have more open space. The tables would make a tremendous difference in how my classroom functions daily.
