Team tables is my focus for this school year. I decided last summer that I wanted to move to tables and get rid of individual desks. I felt it was becoming important to teach the children about teamwork and collaboration in today's very technological world.
These students are part of a Title I school and resources are needed.
Despite this fact, they are hard working, well-behaved and oh- so-kind. They deserve to come to school everyday and love what they are doing. I do my best to give them everything they need to be the best learners they can possibly be.
My Project
I am asking for two new tables. The tables will seat six students and would be perfect for group work. Science experiments will be executed without worry as the uneven desks will no longer be a variable. Reader's Theater scripts will be practiced in a much more comfortable manner. Collaborative writing lessons will be performed with ease and civic responsibilities will be enforced on a daily basis.
In addition to all of the above, the students will learn, first-hand, what it means to be part of a team.
With our behavior plan, they will learn how a team helps all of its members succeed. They will learn the social skills needed to get along with everyone and/or the strategies that are needed when getting along is not working. It is truly amazing how one little piece of furniture can make such a big difference!
