This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Incredibles amaze me every day! My kiddoes have gone through so much these past two school years. They deserve all that they are gifted. Their smiles and words, as they walk in each morning fill my heart with joy. They have the desire to learn and want to succeed in their lives.
They have been through so much and have lost so much of their learning opportunities due to COVID.
It is heartbreaking to witness this academic loss, and many of my students are still going out on exclusions, today. Yet, each day, their first question to me is, "Do we get to read today?"
Even through this pandemic, they try to the best of their ability to live up to our class pledge, "Together we are better, because we are a team. We encourage one another. We respect each other. We apologize and forgive. We learn from each other's mistakes and our own. And we celebrate each other's successes. Why? Because we are all in this together. So, be safe, be patient, and be kind." We say this every day together with hand signals added. They are truly my Wonders!
My Project
Due to the COVID Pandemic, all of my students need an academic boost. Thus, reading together, allows our classroom motto to be at the forefront of my Wonder's WICOR learning - Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading. This project covers all of the 3rd Grade ELA NVACS of the Quick Reference Guide.
Cooperation, discussion, and teamwork is what my class thrives on - building one another up leads to building one's self - academically, socially, and emotionally.
Listening together, while reading together, then discussing together - allows for greater continuity and understanding of the academic content.
I have access to many books whether in our classroom library or online that students can share together while listening together. Students have access to texts separately, but the listening centers allow for a togetherness that learning by self cannot give them. The opportunity of finally having the needed learning resources to have listening centers in my classroom opens up a world of possibilities for us. My mind is spinning with the myriad of ways I can utilize them.
