Help me give my students supplies to start running their own business. I'd love to have my students with disabilities work on their social skills by making a "coffee cart". Also, I need snacks for my students daily.
Every day, 46 eager 3rd and 4th graders walk into our classroom. Our class name is Team Imagine. We operate in a large room that used to be two classrooms. Now, we are fortunate to have one large community with two teachers. My students are creative, kind, respectful and helpful. I never leave school without learning something new from them.
Team Imagine is a community of diverse learners who work together to reach our goals.
Our goal is to focus on student led learning. This means that we want to see the students become more responsible for their learning and take ownership in the process. Through our project based learning, we have seen amazing things. We have already planned and cooked a dinner together based on their hard work. Since they have such amazing imaginations, I am seeking support in making sure all children have access to resources to make them successful.
My Project
In my class there are 46 students and 28% of them have a disability. I would love to see them increase their social skills by bringing coffee and cookies to other teachers and staff. Through this project, they can use math, reading and writing. It also allows them to make connections with other adults in the school. My dream is to get the materials for the coffee cart so that we can get the ball rolling with this project. I will have the students make artwork, reach out to staff, and help move the cart around the school. This is why I would need the cart, k cups, cream, stir sticks, cookies, and mints.
All students deserve a chance to eat a snack at school even if their family cannot provide it.
My coteacher and I have been purchasing a lot of snacks for our children. The majority of them are sent to school without a snack. We make sure that every child has access to a snack each day whether they were sent with one or not. A goal of mine is to have lots of snacks I can keep in my closet so I always have something special to offer these students. I choose some more fun items like the chips and applesauce because they are not used to having a variety of choices. When student's have a snack, their focus increases. This allows them to keep their mind in their learning. Additionally, we eat our snack on the carpet together each day and discuss what is happening in our community. This creates a comforting environment where all are welcome.
