Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a class full of diverse students from many areas of Los Angeles. Many of my students travel by bus very early in the morning. They then travel by bus and arrive home late in the afternoon. They do this to get the best possible education available to them.
My students are very curious and so very kind!
They come from a variety of different backgrounds and different experiences. They are eager to learn and make the best of their education. When exposed to new concepts, they get very excited and are eager to explore these concepts deeper. These students are our future marine biologists, physicists, and mathematicians as long as we keep them excited about these fields.
My Project
We try to give our students a variety of PE activities to build different skills. One of the skills that translates directly into the classroom and into the community is being able to work in a team. These parachutes are used in our PE rotations.
The parachute activities helps students build community and learn the importance of teamwork.
Most of the other PE activities used in our rotations are either individual activities like jump ropes, apparatus, hula hoops. Some of the activities are played with one partner. The parachute activities are ideal for working with a larger group to achieve common goals.
