My Project

Hello all,

My students are motivated and creative, and after the hardships faced with the Lahaina fire, and it is such a positive thing to be able to give them the tools and materials to aid their individual, pair, and group skills with these new items.

Eighth grade is such a transitional age and grade, where students step into being teenagers and get ready for high school. English can be a difficult subject to teach because much of it is not black and white, and even when it is the rules don't always hold fast. With the magnetic sentence strips and personal whiteboards, my students will be able to collaborate more and write quickly. With the beading, scissors, and craft supplies, they will be able to work on projects that explore their personal identities and interests. The organizational supplies will help promote smooth lessons with easy transitions and extra opportunities for creative outlet.

My students are so hard-working and forward-thinking despite the tragedy everyone has gone through. Some of my students lost all of their possessions in the fire, and being able to help them reclaim some of their dreams, and helping them create new and positive memories will always be worth it to me.
