I am a third grade teacher who has the pleasure of learning alongside 25 amazing students! They have such a drive to learn and to thrive. My students come from diverse backgrounds and are enrolled in a Title 1 school. I am excited to help prepare my 3rd graders for the upper grades and help them to begin to become independent learners. Because I am new to teaching, I lack the resources so many of my experienced peers have--although I will not let this affect my students. I plan to work with my grade level to ensure the best possible atmosphere for my students! My students are eager to learn, excited to create, and very ambitious. They are constantly collaborating with their peers while also finding time to work on their individual goals. We call ourselves "Team 12" for we all work towards the same goal of overall success for the entire class.
My Project
One skill that I try to instill in my students is how to be responsible. As third graders, they may be used to being very closely guided as they learn this valuable life skill. One piece of this is to learn how to be organized.
With this project, I will give students the tools to assist them as they become more independent.
The binders are to go back and forth between home and school. Students use these to keep their homework and other important documents where they can find them, and where they can easily communicate with their families and myself. The folders are used in their desk to keep papers organized. Each subject has its own folder, thus students are able to find what they need right when they need it. The most amazing part, is watching my students as they use these tools on their own, and the pride that they show as they become more independent. These are commonly asked for materials for the first day of school, yet, not all students come prepared. I wish to have all of my students ready to go on that first day of school!
