Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These books and theme activity boxes will used in two ways. First, I plan to read the books during read a loud in large group so that children have the opportunity to build language and vocabulary by asking questions as well as challenge them to think critically about how they can help protect our environment. The second way will be during choice time, where each child has an opportunity to select which activity they would like to learn more about using hands on activities provided in each theme box.
With these new books and environmental theme boxes, my students will be able to choose from a variety of activities about our earth as well as get them exploring our natural world and how to protect it.
One of the best ways to increase a child's reading ability is to offer a variety of books across diverse areas of study, and these books will not only introduce them to new concepts about our world but also help my students grow stronger in reading while at the same time making them more conscientious about our planet. This project will provide hands on activities from math to dramatic play, increase their literacy skills and get them thinking about simple ways they can begin to help heal and protect our planet.
