My Project
Next fall I will be working with a diverse group of energetic Kindergarteners in need of interactive and engaging modes of practice. As we spend our first weeks building community we will also begin building our recognition of letters, their sounds, and how to encode and decode short words. Small group practice for all is essential for these skills to grow and when I am in these groups the remaining 4 and 5 year olds require high interest activities that are of quality to keep them engaged and moving forward as learners.
Through this project I hope to provide my incoming students with a group of activities that will allow them to independently practice beginning reader skills.
The tools I am asking for are Versatiles. Along with small decodable readers from the Bob book series, these tile cases allow children to interact with text and self- check for accuracy. Tiles and their cases are used to provide answers and their proper placement is a visual way to allow for independent self-monitoring of work.
