My Students

I teach students in grades two through six who have a gifted ruling or higher than average IQ score. They participate in a pull out program in which they leave their regular education classrooms one day per week to participate in gifted studies in my classroom.

I love that my students are inquisitive and creative problem solvers.

They are able to think outside the box and find solutions others would not normally think of. They welcome a challenge and for the most part have a genuine love of learning.

My Project

It is no secret that technology is advancing at astounding rates in our society. More and more careers are requiring an increasing knowledge and use of technology. For that very reason, it is important that our students have access to technology in our schools.

I have found that the use of technology is the most engaging strategy I can use in my classroom.

My students currently have four tablets to share throughout the day. With as many as twenty-two students in one class period, you can imagine that the last student to get access to a tablet must be patient for quite some time.

Because the tablets allow my students access to unlimited online resources and learning experiences for every topic imaginable, I would like to increase the number of tablets we have, greatly decreasing the amount of wait time the students are experiencing.

I'm looking forward to my students taking more virtual field trips through the rain forest, excavating dinosaur bones, exploring the solar system, designing skyscrapers, or exploring future careers as we add more technology to our classroom.
