My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and all have different amazing abilities. The students I work with have special needs. We use a variety of methods to work and learn in ways that will best meet the needs of each student.

With the wide variety of abilities and needs in my class have a including: academic, behavioral, emotional, and sensory seeking there are unique challenges and needs that can be difficult to meet without additional creativity and support.

My students love to use hands-on and engaging materials to further their learning and help them make the learning progress we are striving for. Some of the most motivating things for my students would be technology and things they can interact with. This is how they learn best and how I can make connections that create a deeper understanding and level of attainment.

My Project

These items are valuable to my students to help enrich the learning process and give them the hands-on experiences that best serve their learning styles.

The CD player and Osmo games will help inspire students to continue to love reading by listening to books on tape and interacting with literacy games and materials to support literacy development for students who are not able to read independently yet.

The CD player will be used for sensory integration for students with sensory needs, as well as to play books on tape for students who cannot read to be able to enjoy and engage with reading in their way. The Osmo learning games are motivating, interesting, and engaging for students to practice math and literacy skills. My students love the Osmo games that we have and would love to have more activities to further their skills.

The color printer is something that we are currently missing that would help to be able to print games and activities to have laminated for continuous use that is more appealing and engaging. Students respond better to materials that are attractive and look fun, some of my students are also working on color matching skills which are challenging to support without the ability to print materials in colored ink.
