The ultimate goal for any teacher is to help students become contributing members of society. In today's world, technology is such a huge part of day-to-day life that it only makes sense for it to be used in the classroom to prepare our students for the real world.
My class currently consists of twenty-two amazing fourth graders.
While their abilities range, they all share a love of learning, making my job extremely enjoyable. They are a diverse group made up of students on individualized education plans, students who are English Language Learners, and students who come from a variety of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. While all very different, each student plays a special role in out classroom community and they truly make me happy to go to school everyday!
My Project
The two Apple iPad Air tablets will be used for a variety of purposes. Our school recently received licenses to an online program called i-Ready. i-Ready assesses the students' strengths and weaknesses in both reading and math, then provides individualized activities and lessons for each student. Instead of all students working on the same skills, each student will receive individualized support unique to their particular needs. In writing, they will be used as editing tools as well as a way for students to type and publish their work for our writing celebrations. For my students on behavior plans, the iPads will also be used as a reward for appropriate behavior. My plan is to use the iPads throughout the day to engage students while giving them individualized support.
Donating to this project will help all of my students grow.
Students who are struggling will receive the support they need to be successful, while students who have already mastered certain skills will be pushed even further.
