My Students

Isn't it incredible to see how easily and remarkably students use technology in this day and age? As I've spent time with students, I've noticed that the quickest way to draw them in and get them excited to learn is to provide them with opportunities to use any form of technology in the classroom!

Though my students come from a low income community with many difficult family circumstances, they are incredibly talented and hard-working.

In fact, on their end of the year tests last year our students outperformed all of their peers at similar schools within our entire district. I am constantly moved by the power that my students have to overcome their challenging circumstances in order to soar academically. I truly believe that they can achieve anything that they set their minds to. My students are the future leaders of our world, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us!

My Project

We are fortunate enough to have one computer for every student in our classroom, and we absolutely love them! However, the computers and other equipment that we have are quickly becoming outdated or dysfunctional due to normal wear and tear. With a new pair of headphones for each student, we will have endless opportunities to engage in learning activities with a technological component. For example, we will be able to listen to children's books read aloud to us online that are not available to us in our school library. We will be able to use online math manipulatives and tutorials to foster our understanding of new math concepts. We will be able to listen to our own voices as we record the words to stories that we have written in class. We will be able to create and narrate videos for our classmates showing the steps to various science experiments. A set of new headphones in our classroom would benefit every student in countless ways!

Unfortunately, my students do not have a lot of positive learning opportunities outside of my classroom.

As a result, I do my best to provide each of my students with a safe, supportive, and educationally rich learning environment at school. With new headphones, my students will have the opportunity to participate in new and exciting learning activities with the latest technology. I know this project can make a difference for students, and in my opinion, they deserve nothing but the best!
