My Students
I teach twenty-nine fourth graders at a public school in downtown Los Angeles. Many students in my class come from underserved communities, yet they arrive each day ready to learn and with a smile on their faces. They enjoy school despite the difficulties surrounding their families and community. They are bright, eager, and resilient students who work hard each day and deserve to learn in a 21st-century classroom. My students value education and are learning skills that will help them create a better future for themselves and their families.
My Project
Amazon Fire tablets will increase student engagement and learning. I plan to use the set of tablets during centers. Daily centers is a time for students to work in small groups to review and master specific skills. During this time, students work collaboratively or independently while I move around the room to provide support for specific students. I would like my students to access ebooks and educational websites to improve reading fluency, research information, and play online games to enrich the fourth grade curriculum. With tablets the possibilities are endless and they will certainly make the school day more exciting!
