Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have just started using a new reading series, Treasures. The program is comprehensive and thorough, but the paper in the workbooks is a very low quality. Our work is very difficult to see with the current pencils provided by the school.
I teach at a small inner-city school.
The students have many challenges facing them at home and in their neighborhood. School is a safe haven for for them. The hard working staff spends hours collaborating to make learning accessible for each and every one of them.
My Project
My students need quality pencils and an electric pencil sharpener! Daily as my students get out their "Practice Books" (workbooks) to reinforce the concepts taught, their is concern that their work cannot be seen because of the low quality paper in the workbook. Sharpened pencils show much more clearly. Please consider assisting our class with the generous donation of an electric sharpener and some good pencils with erasers. Thank you in advance!
Speaking, reading and writing are critical to learning.
Being able to write down thoughts, practice skills, create visual art is important to the students. The students have a sense of pride when the work they produce looks lovely. This small request of an electric sharpener with make a powerful impact!
