This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are inquisitive, imaginative, and enthusiastic learners. My third class is in a high-need, low income, Title One public school, in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
My class has always been bustling with activity.
That is until March 13th. That is when everything changed. We have been Distance Learning ever since. One of the activities my students are really missing is Read Alouds. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.
My Project
I never imagined that I would find myself remotely teaching from home, and that my students would be learning new material through a computer screen. We are moving forward and looking at it as a learning opportunity and a chance to grow and learn new things!
Now, it is extremely important to teach tolerance.
Our children need to celebrate differences instead of letting differences divide them. Having these resources at home will give me more resources to do it well. The titles I ordered are some that I know will spark their curiosity and open up dialogue. The kids adore books and I can't wait until I can read these to them. As their teacher, I love seeing how passionate my kids are as readers, largely because of read alouds such as these.
