Teaching the Next Generation of Learners Through Technology

My Students

My students are continuously developing in this ever-changing world. They have overcome obstacles throughout Covid-19 but have persevered nonetheless. Through my experience so far during Covid as a teacher, I have learned more about my students in their home environment and what items they need at home to help their learning in the classroom. My students are driven and determined and have proven time and time again over the past year and a half that they can learn in this sometimes stressful environment. Whether it was through being shut down for Covid reasons, smoke restrictions, or personal hardships at home, my students continuously show up to class with a willingness to learn.

Through the past year and a half, I have had the opportunity to bring in more real-world scenarios about Covid and relate the numbers back to Math, and allow my students to be more engaged.

We've looked at the data and related the information to outside sources like Spring Break or social gatherings. We've been able to create equations based on the data provided. Through this grant, I hope to continue to inspire my students in the classroom with more opportunities aside from Covid numbers.

My Project

My students will be able to have a full learning experience both in the classroom and at home. Students will be able to participate in the classroom learning environment through the online learning opportunities provided by the iPad I am requesting. Through this, students will have the opportunity to provide their own solutions in real-time to questions presented online or on the board as well as give them the motivation to use the iPad themselves. Any and all content standards will be available to each student in the classroom as the technology will allow me to show graphs and transformations accurately on the screen. (HSF.IF.C.7a, HSF.BF.B.3 are just a couple of standards that will be addressed with this technology in the classroom).
