My students need tablets to work at stations. Using blended learning, they will be able to work on math programs that are specifically designed for each student!
At our school, school climate is key! Our students need to feel safe, protected, and supported while at school and in the classroom. In our district, many of the students come from primarily single parent low income households. Even with stressful situations at home, you would never be able to tell with their daily hugs, smiles, and greetings every morning. With almost 75% of them qualifying for free or reduced price lunch, many of the students rely on the school as their primary source of structure and stability. Even though I am their teacher, my students teach me daily how to be a better educator and person.
My Project
Currently, the technology in our school is getting outdated. By supplying new tablets, I will be able to teach the students how to properly care for technology because they will have more of a sense of ownership with them. They also will be able to use these independently without worrying if the device will work because the browser or device isn't up to date.
Students will use, care, and learn about how technology can improve their learning experience.
Teaching students to care for technology goes beyond the classroom as they are impressionable in middle school. They will be able to take these skills home as well as when they become young adults in society.
If funded, students will use the tablets for personalized learning through the programs that are implemented in the district. They will help bridge the gap between the students who are below grade level as well as challenge the students who excel in math and science.
