Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students spend most of their time in my self-contained classroom. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. I would like to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! As a first year teacher, I am not able to provide all of these things to my students right now. The school does not currently have a colored printer and as an elementary teacher, I think that things need to be exciting and bright. I believe that all students will do well if they can and I want to create an environment where all students have that chance.

My Project

The school does not provide color ink. I will use the ink to create materials for the classroom. The timer will be used so that my students know how much work time they have left, as it is not good practice to cut off students without warning. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. The large carpet will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place during mini-lessons and share time. Thanks!
